미국 LA에서 활동하는 젊은 작가 그룹 ‘BIAA(비아)’의 아티스트와 동덕여대 출신 작가들이 참여하는 그룹전이다. 이번 그룹전은 다양한 문화와 배경을 가진 해외 작가들과 한국에서 활동하는 작가들의 국적을 뛰어넘은 교류를 통해 서로 영향을 주고받으며 또 다른 형태의 예술로 발전하길 바라는 의미에서 기획됐다. 이번 전시에 참여하는 작가는 LA ‘BIAA(비아)’ 소속의 솔로몬 후아르테, 유마 린치, 윤아 정, 유경 김, 스텔라 배, 해, 척 홍, 제임스 코노스, 데빈 치카스, 콘치 알바레즈, 줄리 알레그레, 제나 바오, 이사벨라 김, 멜리 림, 리간, 라이언조 등 16명과 조진희, 황지현, 한선희, 남빛, 임보영, 김보영, 정다운, 유영경, 조원희, 김미화, 김이린, 정연희, 이윤하, 김은솔, 민다슬, 윤소원, 홍수진 등 17명의 한국 작가가 모여 총 33인이다. 이번 전시는 자유롭고 독창성 있는 기법과 표현을 사용하는 젊은 작가들의 유동적이고 다의적인 모습을 드러내는 다양한 작품을 통해 한국과 미국 현대미술의 발전 가능성을 가늠해 볼 수 있는 의미 있는 전시다.
This is a group exhibition with artists from BIAA (Bia), a group of young artists working in LA, and artists from Dongduk Women's University. This group exhibition is designed to encourage artists to develop their own artistic idea through the exchanges of diverse cultures and backgrounds. Total 16 foreign artists and 17 Korean artists participated in this exhibition. This exhibition shows viewers the potential of Korean and American contemporary art through a variety of works that reveal the multiplicity of young artists using their own creative techniques and expressions.
