글렌데일시는 2007년 7월 30일 미국 의회에서 통과된 하원 결의안 HR121을 기념하여 매년 7월 30일을 “위안부의 날”로 지정해 기릴 것을 선언했습니다. 글렌데일시는 2012년엔 위안부 할머니들을 기리기 위한 “위안부의 날”을 지정하였고, 2013년에는 중앙도서관 옆 공원에 평화의 소녀상을 세움으로써 다시 한번 존경의 뜻을 표했습니다. 하지만 일본의 우익의 계속되는 철거 소송이 이어지고 많은 사람들이 이 소녀상의 의미를 알지 못했습니다.
'Do thr Right Thing!'는 위안부에 대한 올바른 역사를 알리고 글렌데일 중앙공원에 위치한 평화의 소녀상을 지키기 위해 기획되었으며 언어가 다른 국제사회에 문화라는 공통언어를 통해 그 의미가 잘 전달될 수 있도록 하기 위해 마련된 문화행사입니다.2014년부터 시작된 이행사는 매년 열리고 있으며 2017년부터는 시 행사로 승격되어 시와 함께 협업으로 진행되고 있습니다.

 The City of Glendale has proclaimed July 30th every year as the “Comfort Women Day” in celebration of House Resolution 121 (HR121) passed by the US Congress on July 30, 2007. In 2012, Glendale has honored the surviving halmonees (comfort women survivors) with the Comfort Women Day designation in the city and in 2013, the Peace Statue was erected in the park next to the Central Library. However, Japan's right wing continued to file a series of demolition lawsuits and many people did not know the meaning of the statue.
The event has been organized to spread the true history of the comfort women issue and to protect The Peace Monument that is located at the Central Park of Glendale. Moreover, to effectively deliver our message to the international community, various artists have created valuable cultural contents that can overcome the barrier of language and reach the heart of individual audience. The event has been held every year since 2014. In 2017, it has been promoted to a city event and has been working with the city of Glendale.
